I’ve honestly just forgotten to update this page, so I have a bit to add. The 3147 kit has been installed, and after chasing down some boost leaks, and getting used to the big-turbo spool, I’ve come to really appreciate this turbo. It adds a lot of power, with a relatively quick spool up. I took it down to UMS Tuning to get the dtec fine-tuned with the new turbo. It took about 5 pulls, and at the end of it, I was making 389 hp and 387 tq at 20 psi on pump gas. Not bad at all! I now have 2 completely useless gears on the street, so it’s time to look into some traction fixes. First, I’m going to be getting a Driver Mod from New Design Electronics, which is essentially a timing-based traction control device, along with a two-step. Also, I picked up an eBoost boost controller, so that I can run lower boost in first and second gears, and higher boost for 3-5. Once I get that installed, I’ll be testing out a race gas tune as well.
I replaced the faulty flow-sensor I had on my Aquamist kit, and everything seems to be working awesomely. I installed an in-dash DVD player, and when I find a good shop will be installing screens in the back, so that my boys have something to do on long trips.
So, you may be asking what’s next? Crane cams. They’re sitting in my shed, just waiting for me to get time to install them. That should decrease the 3147’s already quick spool even more. After that…..well, I can’t say just yet.
