So owning a skyline in Canada comes with its hoops to jump through one of those is having DOT/SAE approved headlights...
now since Skylines do not come with such headlights what is one to do...
some people have chosen to use corsica headlights, 94 accord, 95 accord, infinity j30's and some prelude lights...
there is also an option of some fugly headlights which have been DOT approved but they wont go on my car....
so all im left to do is to retro fit DOT approved lights into the stock housing.... now i would have already had this done in the first week of owning the car had the car came with the OEM stock headlight assemblies... instead my car came with the N1 style headlights and are a sought after item... they also have 10k piaa HID's but i wont be able to use them afterwards... i dont think...
the OEM headlights are projection headlights where as the N1's are not...
Now in order to retro-fit lights into the OEM headlight assembly i had to buy a set of them and that meant getting them from Japan.... it was the easiest quickest item i have ever bought online, it took 1 week to get to me... mean while my roommate is waiting over 3weeks for a comp game from the USA....
So now that i have the headlight assemblies i need to deconstruct them... first that requires i remove all the wires any rubber and any other thing i can take off.... then i place them in an oven(thats where they are as im writing this) on low heat to soften the adhesive holding the glass to the assembly... remove the glass at the right time, then remove the internals,,, then retro-fit the new lights into the assembly...
the lights i have chosen which were recommended to me by the first person who has done this are 95 camaro high beams and hella 90mm modules for low beam... i have seen these on the car and they look great and light the road better than stock...
luckily for me, the person who has first did this retro fit on there car has offered to do my lights for free, all i have to do is supply the parts and do a lil bit of prep work before i send it off to him and then he will send it back to me ready to go on as he will be test fitting and adjusting the lights on his car so i dont have to fiddle with much... ya i said it hes gonna help me out for free... however in the box im gonna add in a $50 bill so he can shipp it back to me and he can keep the change which should be around 30$ least i can do for someone whos gonna get my car legal and on the road
