It's origins began as my first car, a 1998 Subaru Outback. In 2006 my friends and I decided to convert it into the Ectomobile from Ghostbusters as part of a Halloween prank. When we rolled it out, people in my town and, well, where ever we went just went berserk. The car shot me to near-celebrity status in my hometown and across most of the state, as well as becoming an internet phenomenon. 5 days before Halloween, though, the original Ecto-1K was rear-ended by a semi, effectively totaling the vehicle. On November 22, I bought this 2003 Outback from a dealer in Colorado Springs. We printed new graphics, and swapped transferred the roofrack and lightbars to the new car. In April of 2007, we rebuilt the roofrack from the bottom up, this time installing a water-proof stereo system behind the tanks.
In the year since I started this project, this car has been on the cover of half a dozen newspapers, it's been a hit in parades and car shows, and making people all over Colorado question whether or not Ghostbusters was just a movie... or something more.
Seriously though, it's so much fun using this thing to mess with people

The alternator is of a more powerful aftermarket variety, and we also use a deep cycle heavy-duty battery.
